(01) The role
Design at Cilantrobyte is research-led and prototype-driven. We don't hand off flat mockups — we prototype in Figma and in code, and our deliverables ship to users.
You'll own design on one or two engagements at a time, working closely with engineering from the first sketch. Our clients expect you to push back on the brief — that's why they hired us.
(02) What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Lead product and brand design on active engagements
- Run user research, synthesize findings, and argue for direction
- Build and evolve design systems that survive contact with engineering
- Pair with engineers on implementation detail, not just aesthetics
- Mentor junior designers as we grow
(03) What you'll bring
Requirements
- Seven or more years of product design experience
- Strong portfolio showing depth in at least two of: product UX, brand systems, design systems, type
- Comfortable presenting and defending work to executive stakeholders
- Figma fluency (components, variants, tokens, prototyping)
- Basic HTML/CSS literacy — you don't need to be an engineer, but you need to be able to read one
Nice to have
- Design engineering experience (writing production CSS or front-end code)
- Motion and interaction design background
- Have led the design of a shipped design system

Compensation
Competitive salary benchmarked quarterly against senior bands at product-led companies. Profit sharing twice a year. Equipment budget, learning stipend, and six weeks of discretionary paid leave per year.
