(01) Our take

Expo has moved from "interesting prototyping tool" to "the default React Native toolchain" in the past three years. EAS Build, EAS Update, and the custom dev client pattern give us the productivity of managed workflows without sacrificing the escape hatches when we need them.

For almost every new React Native project we start, we start it with Expo. The only time we don't is when a specific native module doesn't play nicely with the Expo build system — and that list has shrunk dramatically.

(02) What we build with it

Typical work

  • New React Native projects
  • OTA (over-the-air) update infrastructure for existing RN apps
  • Preview and staging builds for stakeholders without App Store reviews
  • Small-team mobile engagements where infrastructure overhead matters

(03) How we engage

Engagement shape

Not a standalone engagement — always paired with a React Native build.
